Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1900. Commenced service prior to the outbreak of war on 4 August 1914. Second Lieutenant of the Royal Irish Rifles, 1903; Indian Staff Corps, 1904; Lieutenant, 9th Ghurkha Rifles, 1905; Captain, 1912. Served in India, France and Mesopotamia, 1914 – 1916. Killed in action at Dajelah Redoubt, Es Sinn, Mesopotamia in attempted relief of Kut-el-Amara, 8 March 1916.
