Second Lieutenant Arthur Hamilton Winthrop Woodruff (1913)
5 January 1888 – 28 September 1917
Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1913. A member of the 1st Hockey XI, 1913 – 1914. A member of the University Contingent of the Officers’ Training Corp. Played hockey for Dorset.
Commenced service in August 1914. Second Lieutenant, 4th Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment, 1915, serving with the Indian Expeditionary Force in Mesopotamia. Killed in action at Ramadie, 28 September 1917.

He was a most promising officer and would have certainly risen had he remained in the Army. He set a splendid example to the men. I mourn with you the loss of a brave and lovable gentleman
