Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1912. A member of the 1st Torpid, 1913 – 1914; 1st Cricket XI, 1914. A member of the University Contingent of the Officers’ Training Corps. Commenced service on 1 September 1914. Second Lieutenant of the 1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment, 1914; Lieutenant, 1915; Captain, 1915; Major, 1917, serving in Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine and France. Mentioned in Despatches. Awarded a M.C., 1918. Killed in action at Soissons, 1 August 1918.
